About Us

International Ballet of Florida opened its doors in 2010 under the Artistic Direction of Sergiy Mykhaylov and Darya Fedotova. Both are former international ballet dancers, principal and soloists of National Ballet of Ukraine, Classical Ballet of Paris, Orlando Ballet and Sarasota Ballet. They are graduates of the Kyiv State Ballet School one of the world’s best ballet schools, using the Vaganova (Russian) Method of ballet training. This method is used at all levels of training, ages 3 through adult.

IBF is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, offering programs for ages 2.5 through adult. Classes include Ballet, Pointe, Character, Contemporary, Pas de Deux, Variation, Conditioning and Repertoire.

We believe new ballets are vital to the dance world as it moves into the 21st century. This is something that IBF uniquely offer its students. Along with restaging the classics, IBF creates new roles in full length productions which is a rare opportunity that very few schools and even professional companies have. Students of all ages work with our professional instructors in a caring and supportive environment in small class sizes for individualized attention.  IBF is the most performing school in the area where students are given the opportunity to perform in full-length ballets multiple times a year in the most prestigious theaters around, sharing the stage with international guest artists and the graduating students. They are also given the chance to participate in local and international ballet competitions.

International Ballet of Florida not only enables its students to achieve their full potential as dancers, but we also believe it is important to develop well-rounded human beings with life long friendships and healthy competition.

IBF Class Levels

Children’s Program (Beginners, Pre-Ballet, Levels 1 and 2)

The Children’s Program offers an introduction to the art of dance by exposing the child to expression and creativity through movement.  Students learn discipline, coordination, movement to music, and begin to learn how to express feelings through dance.  There is a concentration on stretching and developing flexibility.  Classes at this level are fun, educational, and inspirational.

Intermediate Level

The Intermediate Level offers a more structured class environment.  The student receives increased formal training at the barre and in centre work.  Students at this level improve their ballet technique, and begin executing pirouettes and jumps.  They begin learning Character and Repertoire.  They also develop a stronger understanding of the body’s movement and when they are ready, they begin pointe work.

Advanced Level

Advanced students attend class five times a week and are able to refine their technique.  They receive a higher level of training in pointe, variation, repertoire, pas de deux, and enhance their versatility as dancers.  They also receive training in stretch-Pilates.

Pre-Professional Level

The Pre-Professional Program is designed for those students who are interested in a professional training experience.  It further develops technique and trains the dancer how to use movement as means to express emotion and tell a story.  Students are guided in the next steps toward a career in dance or higher education.
